Sagada and Way back to Manila

Well yes, we GOT up at 5:30 am to be at the meeting point at 6 and it was definitely worth it. The morning was like a beautiful morning in the Swiss mountains, fresh air, a bit fog, sun coming up. The caves were a great experience. We were the 4 of us and a guide. The way we crabbled down there would neve ever be allowed in Switzerland, way too dangerous!! We had only the helmet (and as you can see on the picture, I look desperately foolish and this is exactly the reason why I am refusing wearing a velo helmet at home!!!) - no other security. The stones were terribly slippery, steep and cliffy. Well, somehow we got down there and it was really amazing. Waterfalls, bright stones and small waterpools every where. After 2 hours we crawled back and I felt like a washrag after climbing for 2 hours without breakfast.

We left Sagada at 11am to Bontoc, and took there the aircon bus to Manila. That topped all opf the bustrips I had here so far. It was bloody cold as last time and even though I wore jeans and a jacket, I froze all way long. We had to take the passroad again to get to Banaue, and imagine, this time we had a BUS, so to say a CAR and not a small jeepney. Besides that it started pissing down like hell. As we were on the top of the mountain the bus got slower and all of a sudden started spooling. Then started to wiggle dangerously. Then stopped. I looked out and well, even though I love action and everything what is dangerous and adventurous, this slightly crossed my limits. We stood on the top of a mountain with a Carbus, the road rubber and 1 meter wide, right side a steep cliff, right side precipice....pooring rain, wind and 100 of big stones and puddles in our way. Everytime the bus tried to start, it started spooling again and this REALLY uncomfortbale wiggle-waggling which made my heart definitely beat harder. So we all had to get out and lift the stones from the road....After half an hour next try (I stayed out of the bus!) and it worked! Everybody was yelling and clapping and we could head off.....pheeeewwww....after 12 hours we arrived in Manila (it was meanwhile 4:30 am) and Eden and me went to the Dormitory of the CERV Philippines Organisation. Finally sleep....

Next day, we went for some shopping, in the evening was Eden's sisters birthday and the whole family of her was there. That was really nice and loud, the Filipinos are three times the Italians.... The Dorm is an old huge villa, quite raky but really nice. It is the place where some people of the organisation have their home (as Eden, her daughter Andrea and Vinc) and the Volunteers before and after the projects. So we had a great party until 1 am in the morning, me and the whole Filipino family and I didn't understand a word, but after a few beers I could even talk Filipino.
